01 | How are SHAKE ingredients processed? Is it freeze-dried?
SHAKE is made from organic certified, non-GMO, and vegan ingredients, which are minimally processed under the strictest FDA CGMP and USDA National Organic Program requirements to ensure quality and consistency. A low temperature and low impact water extraction method is used in processing to maintain the nutritional and enzymatic integrity of the plant- based proteins, instead of the less expensive and more common hexane method of extraction. We do not use radiation, pressure screening, heat drying, bleaching or other processes that would adulterate the quality of our products.
02 | Is the flavoring used in SHAKE Vanilla natural?
Yes. The vanilla flavors used in our SHAKE Vanilla are from Madagascar Vanilla beans and are plant-sourced and Non-GMO.
03 | How should I take SHAKE and GREENS POWDER?
SHAKE and GREENS POWDER were developed with a complementary flavor profile. They taste great separately, but even better if you mix them together! Simply mix two scoops of SHAKE Vanilla or Chocolate with one scoop of GREENS POWDER in 12-16 ounces of cold water, or a preferred plant-based milk of your choice.
04 | How much protein do I need?
For most people, the "40/100" rule of protein is a good guideline. This means that for every 100 pounds of body weight, a person would consume 40 grams of protein per day. Keep in mind that this amount is for an average moderately sedentary individual— the amount can double for athletes. Here's an example: If I am 150 pounds, then 40 x 15 = 60 grams of protein per day (more if I am physically active). Each 2-scoop serving of the Shake contains 21g of high-quality vegan protein.
05 | Why vegetable-based protein instead of whey protein?
Whey protein is a byproduct of the dairy industry, originally considered a waste product. Historically, it was used as an inexpensive source of protein for livestock. It is now used as a source of inexpensive protein by some sports nutrition companies because it reduces manufacturing costs. Unless the whey is produced from an exclusively organic source it will likely contain genetically modified organisms, pesticides, hormones, and steroids passed on from dairy cows reared in Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). Many people are also allergic or sensitive to dairy products, which is why all Seacret nutrition products are dairy-free.
06 | Isn't whey protein better for athletes than vegan protein?
All protein originates from plants and is recycled through the food chain, subsequently through herbivores and then through carnivores. In the recycling process, animal-based protein bioaccumulates antibiotic residues, hormones, saturated fat, trans-fats, endotoxins, cholesterol, Neu5Gc, heterocyclic amines and other contaminants. These undesirable elements may increase inflammation and the risk of future health challenges, which could be counterproductive to athletic performance. Plant-based protein has a higher level of purity than animal-based protein. Additionally, plant-based protein contains 2 to 5 times fewer Sulphur-based amino acids, thereby reducing acid load in the body and on the kidneys, which has been shown to help athletes with faster recovery times. Plant-based protein contains high quality amino acids, low residual additives, a high level of nutritional density, and is an ideal source of protein for all athletes.
07 | Can I get complete protein from plants?
Yes. The myth that plants cannot provide enough amino acids to form complete proteins was refuted 50 years ago. However, it is important to consume a diet with a variety of plant-based foods including rice, beans, nuts, greens, and fruits. SHAKE contains a complete amino acid profile to assist in your weight management and/or muscle-building goals.
08 | What do I do if I think the Shake is causing bloating and gas?
SHAKE is comprised of healthy plant-based ingredients. However, individuals who do not frequently consume fibrous vegetables may be deficient in enzymes necessary for easy and rapid digestion, which may temporarily result in bloating or gas. Introduce the product slowly into your diet and allow your body
time to adjust to the new ingredient. Also, try using less SHAKE (for example 1 scoop rather than 2) and blend with water instead of liquids such as almond or coconut milk.
